“In 1937 Harold Jordan was a hired man for Carl & Evelyn Lundborg of Belle Plaine, MN, where Edith was working as a housekeeper. That summer Edith went back to Graceville to help on her parent’s farm. When fall came she went back to Belle Plaine to work as a housekeeper for the Mohrbackers. Harold was then working for Lee & Ethel Schmidt. After a period of seeing each other, Harold and Edith were married on September 3, 1939. They rented a farm southeast of Brown’s Valley, MN. for 5 years. Edith’s dad Alvin Stomberg gave them 160 acres and a milk cow as a wedding present. They soon acquired an adjoining 160 acres and raised dairy cows, pigs, chickens, and farmed the land. Besides farming, Harold enjoyed hunting and often hunted with Art Kottke of Graceville.”
